Fostering positive and collaborative relationships with local Indigenous Peoples is essential for building the foundations for successful projects and ensuring mutual benefits. Agnico Eagle supports the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and applies its principles, norms and standards through our Indigenous Peoples Engagement Policy. Our approach focuses on establishing mutually beneficial, cooperative and productive relationships.

As a global mining company, we engage with many different Indigenous Peoples and communities which each have their own unique histories, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs. We take steps to reduce barriers to meaningful participation by adapting our engagement activities to the specific local context and indigenous-led processes in the areas where we have activities.

Our approach is characterized by effective dialogue, consultation and partnership. We work to engage with Indigenous Peoples and achieve free, prior and informed consent, also known as FPIC, when proposing new or substantially modified projects.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan with Indigenous Peoples

At Agnico Eagle, our ongoing journey toward reconciliation is driven by a deep-rooted belief in social, economic and environmental responsibility toward the communities in which we operate. The decision to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan reflects our commitment to doing what is right while being guided by our values.

While various programs and initiatives to benefit Indigenous Peoples have been in place for many years across Agnico Eagle’s operations, the Reconciliation Action Plan represents an important step in integrating these activities into a central, comprehensive strategy. It serves as a tool to enhance our efforts toward reconciliation, enabling effective implementation, continuous monitoring and the flexibility to adapt as needed. Importantly, the Plan complements and strengthens our existing efforts and partnerships, providing opportunities to learn, adapt and leverage successful approaches across our operations.

Reconciliation demands a deliberate, sustained effort toward responsible and respectful practices. This effort is guided by the pillars and commitments outlined in the Plan.

In June 2026, we published our first Progress Report on the Reconciliation Action Plan with Indigenous Peoples, reflecting our progress and commitments throughout 2024 and 2025. A renewed Reconciliation Action Plan, informed by input from Indigenous Rights-holders and partners, will be released in summer 2027. Going forward, progress reports and renewed plans will continue to be published on a regular cycle.

Our Company’s Reconciliation Action Plan is available in English, French and Inuktitut, while a quick guide version and our Progress Report are available in these same languages as well as in Spanish, Finnish, Inuinnaqtun, Cree and Anishinaabe. Visit our Document Centre to access all versions.

Reconciliation is a shared journey, and your perspective matters. We welcome feedback on both our Reconciliation Action Plan and our Progress Report. Your input will directly inform the development of the renewed Reconciliation Action Plan. Whether you are an Indigenous Rights-holder, community partner, employee or stakeholder, we invite you to share your thoughts, questions or ideas by contacting us at reconciliation@agnicoeagle.com.

Indigenous Advisory Committee

In 2025, Agnico Eagle established an Indigenous Advisory Committee composed of respected Indigenous leaders from across different mining jurisdictions in Canada. Drawing on their lived experience, cultural knowledge and professional expertise in community relations, environmental stewardship, governance, and economic development, the Committee advises our leadership on Reconciliation Action Plan implementation.

The Committee provides guidance grounded in Indigenous perspectives and responsive to community needs. Through regular engagement with the Committee, we are building a framework for accountability that keeps Indigenous voices central to our reconciliation journey.
