Operations Update

LaRonde is Agnico-Eagle’s flagship mine, located in the Abitibi region of northwestern Quebec. With proven and probable gold reserves* of 4.8 million ounces (35 million tonnes grading 4.3 g/t gold) as of December 31, 2010, LaRonde has one of the largest gold reserves of any mine operating in Canada.

Q3 2011

  • In Q3 2011, payable gold production of 29,069 ounces at a total cash cost of minus $270 net of byproduct credits. Also produced 968,000 ounces of silver, 18,032 tonnes of zinc and 738 tonnes of copper.  Processed 600,000 tonnes of ore, with minesite costs of C$88 per tonne.
  • From January through September 2011, payable gold production of 93,487 ounces at a total cash cost of minus $21 per ounce (net of byproduct credits). Also produced 2,384,000 ounces of silver, 42,303 tonnes of zinc and 2,214 tonnes of copper. Processed 1,784,000 tonnes of ore, with minesite costs of C$86 per tonne.
  • LaRonde Extension project on schedule and on budget
    • Project to start production in late Q4 2011, which will increase average grade
    • Post-2011, LaRonde expects to ramp up to an average life of mine production of 338,000 ounces of gold annually, reflecting higher gold grades at depth
  • Exploration program in 2011 focused on defining potential open pit material at Bousquet Zone 5 and discovering new resources at Ellison.
