The Kittila deposit remains open at depth and along strike. The ongoing exploration program is focused on converting the large gold resources to reserves, and on expanding the resources beneath and along strike from the Suuri and Roura zones.

In 2011, the Kittila mine-site exploration program includes 56,200 metres of exploration and conversion drilling at a cost of $16 million, as well as driving an exploration ramp into Roura Central to improve access for deep drilling.
